The exhibition "The signs of everyday life: gestures, symbols and marks in the Al-Andalus" is being held at the new Islamic Centre of the Tavira Municipal Museum since the 18th of May, International Museum Day. This temporary exhibition of the Mértola’s Archaeological Field aims to unravel the information contained in everyday objects of the Islamic civilisation, revealing the experiences of the people who used them. It’s about deciphering and giving meaning to symbols, messages, marks, signs, gestures and beliefs that shape the imagination and substance of the inhabitants of Islamic Mértola.
This temporary exhibition will be held in the Islamic Centre until the end of September, traveling then to Silves.
