Published under the exhibition “100 years of heritage: memory and identity: Portugal 1910-2010” as part of the 100 year anniversary of the establishment of the Republic in Portugal, this work aims to collect texts and thoughts on the preservation and enrichment of cultural heritage throughout the century of 1910-2010. It thus intends to be a synthesis of the history of Portuguese heritage from the establishment of the First Republic to the present day. The texts focus on concepts, policies, actors, institutions and civil society organisations responsible for the preservation of Portuguese common history.
