The facade and colour of the historic city is this book’s subject of study, which seeks to address in detail the planning of preservation interventions in urban historic centres. The author focuses his approach on three fundamental perspectives: urban historiography, architecture, intervention technologies (conservation, restoration and renovation). Case studies and methodologies are described, problems are diagnosed.
A closer look at the urban landscape shows that colour, materials and technologies, as expressions of a particular culture, define in a privileged way the identity of an historic place.
