When someone, by a desire to be helpful, aims to answer whatever is asked of them, then there’s the risk of responding poorly, or less accurately, many of these questions. Perhaps this Portuguese Dictionary of Archaeology does not serve all its readers as well as it should. We can, however, say of our work, the same that Garcia d'Orta has said in its Colloquium on the Simples: “and then I will say to thee the things I know very well, and those of which I have many doubts, with an oath to say the truth.”
