“Exhibition: The signs of everyday life” at the Islamic Centre of the Tavira Municipal Museum

The exhibition "The signs of everyday life: gestures, symbols and marks in the Al-Andalus" is being held at the new Islamic Centre of the Tavira Municipal Museum since the 18th of May, International Museum Day. This temporary exhibition of the Mértola’s Archaeological Field aims to unravel the information contained in everyday objects of the Islamic civilisation, revealing the experiences of the people who used them.

Collection of 64 miniature illustrations reproduced in grayscale, from Arabic, Persian and Turkish manuscripts of the National Library of France, from the 13th century to late 17th century. The majority of these illustrations belong to four well-defined groups:  the Mongolian school, the Timurid schools of Ancient Khorasan, the Safavid school, and the Indo-Persian schools from Khorasan under the rule of Timur’s heirs.
